Sea, sex & sustainability

Let's start with the bad news: on 22 August 2020, we will have consumed all the resources the planet is capable of producing in a year. A date that falls 3 weeks later than in 2019, "thanks" to global containment. Granted, that's not very cheerful - so to make the most of the beautiful season in all conscience, we've prepared a small selection of greens alternatives to your summer essentials.

Come on, get in the water.

MyMarini

After two months spent in a Parisian two-room apartment (or in a house in the provinces, for the luckiest ones), we have only one desire: to return to the big blue sea. To accompany us, a bathing suit from MyMariniretro just the right amount. MyMarini thinks of everything: entirely made in Europe (within a 600 km radius, to limit transport) from recycled fishing net fibre, the swimming costumes are reversible and offer SPF 50 sun protection. Go ahead, we tell you, it's not cold!

If, like us, you're the kind of person who gets sunburned in Nord-Pas-de-Calais on March 15 (tmtc), we've got just the thing for you in terms of clean sunscreen. As you may know, the chemical components found in ordinary creams can be harmful to the ocean, and coral in particular. We've found the solution at EQ Love, whose certified organic sun creams with 100% mineral filters protect both your skin and the marine environment. A nugget made in Biarritz, tested and approved by Marie-Hortense, the founder of Bastille - more a member of the sunburn team in March.

For those who surf in winter (or in Brittany, it's the same), the French brand Sen No Sen offers an alternative to neoprene overalls.

Why replace neoprene? Because it comes straight from oil, its manufacture is extremely polluting and it is impossible to recycle. Sen No Sen replaces it with a natural rubber made from tree sap, Yulex. All you have to do is learn how to stand on the board!

RowseNeed a quick shower after the big bath? Say goodbye to plastic: choose a solid soap and shampoo! At Bastille, we particularly like RowseThey're as beautiful as they are good, and can come with a handy little aluminum box to take them on the road (if you've ever tried solid shampoo, you know what we're talking about).

Summer party

We swore we wouldn't buy anything else at Zara's since we took a look at the carbon footprint of fast fashion (and we met three girls wearing the same dress as us in the evening). This time it's the right one: we've made a small selection of eco-responsible AND sexy brands for you to dress up your summer evenings.

BalzacFor sandals, it's direction Balzac. Yes, yes, Balzac! You may not know them for their commitment to the green, and yet: they see fashion differently. Their garment workshops are in the process of being certified GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and their sandals are 100% vegan. Did you see only leather in them too?

For those who are going to the French coast and need to cover up at nightfall, we recommend the "infinite jacket" from Hopaalin collaboration with 1083. Made in France, it is recycled, recyclable and consigned ad infinitum: in short, it breaks all sustainability records - and it is genderless. Congratulations.

What's better than a lipstick to make a splash at the beach bar? That's easy. A vegan, plastic-free lipstick that stays in a refillable box for life. For those who are not a fan of red, it comes in many shades and you can even create your own.

To be green to the tips of your fingers, we recommend Héloïse & Abélard: a French jewellery house that creates jewellery from old diamonds and recycled gold. From there to suggesting a wedding proposal at the beach, there is only one step we take.

We said sea, "sex" and sustainability.

It's 2020: everyone has the right to be green and sexy, and for that we thank Tits. French lingerie made from recycled fibres, which consume less water and emit less CO2; they are also certified Oeko-Tex and GRS. In short, their underwear respects your body and the planet. And if it ever gets you through the night... we advise you... Green Condom Club...condoms without toxic chemicals. We can already see you laughing behind your screen, but frankly: you buy your organic bananas, don't you? So when it comes to packaging, do the same.

So there you have it, you have everything you need to enjoy the summer while protecting the planet. If everyone does their bit, the date of the world's deadline can be pushed back year after year, so don't hesitate to talk about it around you. We are counting on you!
