Frequently asked questions

We manufacture in France. Our perfumes are created in Paris, assembled in Grasse, and bottled in Seine et Marne. Some of our components come from European partners, notably our bottles, which are produced in Italy. They are decorated by an artisan in Val-de-Marne, and we have entrusted the manufacture of our cardboard boxes to a printer in Barcelona.

We prefer to work locally. We manufacture in France. Our packaging is chosen for its minimal environmental impact: recycled cardboard and partly recycled glass. We avoid over-packaging as much as possible, and have adjusted the size of the case to the bottle to avoid wasting any space. We banish plastic as far as possible, with a few exceptions: our pump and the inserts needed in the caps to keep our bottles hermetically sealed. 

We continue to work with all our partners in a spirit of continuous improvement, to reduce our carbon footprint. 

We are part of PETA's (People for the EthicalTreatment of Animals) "Global Beauty withoutbunnies" program, which proves that our fragrances are vegan and not tested on animals.

Our Bastille perfume bottles don't have a screw neck, so they're not refillable. However, we are currently studying the best option to avoid waste as much as possible. To be continued...

Our fragrances comply with the ISO 16128 standard, which requires a minimum of 95% natural ingredients for a product to be called natural. We have chosen to include 5% synthetics. These 5% are quality ingredients, often also derived from natural ingredients (for example, Ambroxan, a molecule naturally present in clary sage). They enable us to embellish our natural fragrances, make them last longer and offer our perfumers greater creative freedom.

The INCI list (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) has been a mandatory nomenclature for cosmetic products since 1999.Its purpose is to standardize the ingredients present in a cosmetic product. For fragrances, Europe has regulated 24 molecules which, when used above a certain concentration, must be mentioned in the INCI list, even though they are themselves part of a product's fragrance. These molecules may come directly from the essential oils contained in the fragrance (for example, limonene, a molecule found in large quantities in citrus essences). The list of these molecules will soon be extended by 57 new molecules (IFRA 51), which will have to be listed on perfume packaging. So don't be surprised if our packaging changes over time.

Fear not! Every natural raw material contains a long list of molecules (roses, for example, are made up of a hundred fragrant molecules). So if all these molecules were detailed, the list of naturals would far exceed the list of synthetics!

We take great care to choose high-quality synthetic ingredients, often derived from natural ingredients. We do not use any controversial ingredients, and if there is the slightest doubt about an ingredient, we prefer not to use it.

At Bastille, we're thinking about tomorrow, and we're very interested in green chemistry, biotechnologies and future innovations for our next fragrances!

We use organic wheat alcohol. Organic wheat alcohol is non-toxic and safe for use in fragrance creation. It is also less likely to cause skin irritation or allergic reactions than some synthetic alcohols.

Bastille works in collaboration with the composition company IFF-LMR, which promotes sustainable agriculture and enables us to integrate fair trade ingredients, some of which are "Fair for Life" certified, into our fragrances, such as tuberose in Pleine Lune.

The complete list of ingredients for our fragrances can be found on the fragrance's product sheet on our website. The INCI list is printed on our packaging.

Perfume is a little luxury in a bottle, so if you can avoid wasting any, all the better! To achieve maximum magic with minimum perfume, simply spray your fragrance about 10-20 cm from your skin - and, above all, in the right place. It' s the heat that diffuses your fragrance. So it's best tospray fragrance on the hot spots on your body: your wrists, in the hollow behind your ears (our favorite spot), in the creases of your elbow or even... behind your knees. Bastille fragrances are made from95% natural ingredients and are free from stabilizers: they are therefore a little more sensitive to light, heat and humidity than conventional fragrances. But don't worry, you can keep them for at least 18 months, if not longer! Natural perfume is like a fine wine: it keeps well in the dark, and improves with age!

Once the bottle has been opened for the first time, minor interactions between raw materials do not affect the quality of the fragrance at all. However, they can slightly affect its color, which is why we recommend keeping your perfume away from light.

It is perfectlypossible to use Bastille fragr ances during pregnancy. during pregnancy since we take great care not to add additives, preservatives and stabilizers to our formulas. Some of these are considered endocrine disruptors.

You've discovered your perfume sample and you're not sure if it's right for you? Don't worry: 30, 50 and 100 ml bottles can be returned within 15 days if the box has not been opened and is in perfect condition. 

Returns from France are free! If you live outside France, you will have to pay the return shipping costs.

In case of a return from outside metropolitan France, shipping costs remain at your charge.

Then simply drop the parcel off at the post office. Just remember to wrap the bottle securely so that it is not damaged in transit. 

Finally, it is not possible to return a discovery or gift box.

For Europe, the United States and the rest of the world: 3 to 15 working days. 

Please note that international orders can sometimes take a few weeks to be delivered due to specific local customs processes. 

Delivery methods depend on the country of delivery. We offer the most suitable means of transport depending on the country to which your parcel is delivered.

Products purchased on the site can be delivered to a postal address anywhere in the world.

In the event of an order to a country other than metropolitan France, you are the importer of the product(s) concerned. Any customs duties or other local taxes that may be required will be at your expense. They are your responsibility, both in terms of declaration and payment to the authorities and competent bodies of your country.

It is possible to receive your parcel at a relay point. All you have to do is choose the delivery method: delivery to a relay point when you buy your perfume on our website.

Any order placed on the website must be paid immediately upon validation of the order. We accept payment by credit cards, which are part of the normal credit card network (Visa, Euro card, MasterCard, American Express) or PayPal. Your credit card payment data is protected and encrypted by our service provider.
